My client is a specialist alternative investment manager within a well-established South African financial services group. The firm provides access to a range of private-market strategies, including private equity, private credit, venture capital and real estate.
They are seeking a commercially minded Capital Raising & Distribution Manager to help scale the business by expanding its reach beyond its existing client base. The focus of the role is to build and grow relationships with external wealth managers, IFAs, private banks and institutional partners, enabling broader distribution of the firm’s investment solutions.
Importantly, this is not a “bring-your-book” role. There is already a strong pipeline of opportunities — the emphasis is on an individual with solid investment acumen, high energy levels and the drive to convert opportunities into assets under management.
The role will suit someone who is comfortable operating in a client-facing, commercially driven environment, and who can confidently represent the firm in client meetings, presentations and industry events.
Key Responsibilities:
Drive capital raising across the firm’s alternative investment strategies.
Develop and expand distribution through external partners (wealth managers, IFAs, private banks, family offices).
Build and manage a high-quality pipeline, converting opportunities into committed capital.
Engage with prospective and existing investors through meetings, presentations and ongoing communication.
Represent the firm at investment conferences, client events and industry forums.
Translate investment strategies into clear, compelling client propositions.
Support investor communications, including presentations, updates and due diligence materials.
Work closely with investment and internal teams to support effective distribution and client servicing.
Ensure all activities align with relevant regulatory and compliance requirements.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics or Commerce.
CFA or CA(SA) preferred.
FAIS Fit & Proper; RE5/RE1 advantageous (or willingness to obtain).
6–10+ years’ experience within investment management, with exposure to private markets / alternative investments.
Experience in capital raising, distribution, client-facing roles or related functions.
Strong investment knowledge and the ability to engage credibly with sophisticated investors.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
High levels of energy, initiative and commercial drive.
Ability to operate in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
Note: A candidate’s CV would under no circumstances be discussed / disclosed without the candidate’s explicit, prior consent.
