A prestigious boutique Wealth Management firm is seeking a dynamic tax professional to join their Fiduciary Advisory team to advise HNW and UHNW individuals on local and cross-border investments, estate planning and related tax matters.
Note that this is a relationship-orientated client-facing advisory role that works closely with clients and Wealth Managers. The incumbent would act as the client’s trusted advisor on all matters pertaining to tax. This role does not entail writing lengthy legal opinions etc, but rather obtaining and interpreting legal opinions from outside council and advising clients on the best course of action.
Note: This vacancy could be based in Stellenbosch, or Sandton
The successful incumbent will amongst others be responsible for:
• Local and cross-border estate planning – advisory and technical execution, alongside Wealth Manager.
• Tax structuring advisory (local and offshore) – including facilitation with third party experts where necessary and management of feedback to clients and Wealth Manager.
• Offshore and local trust advisory and facilitation – liaising and project management with third party or internal fiduciary team/trust officer.
• Assisting with client emigration matters, alongside Wealth Managers and external specialists as needed.
• Building a network of global tax specialists and a library of foreign tax knowledge.
• Keep up to date with latest tax and exchange control legislation.
• Contributing to internal and external notes on industry news and developments.
Requirements:
• Essential: Postgraduate degree or diploma in Tax Law (HDip Tax/MTax).
• Legal background preferred.
• Experience in Private Client work strongly preferred, but not essential.
• Min 4 years PQE in tax advisory preferred.
• Strong client service orientation (key skill).
• Ability to work in a professional, high net worth environment.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (key skill).
• Strong ability to prioritise issues, work efficiently, independently and complete actions necessary to meet requests.
• Ability to take initiative.
• Attention to detail.
