An outstanding opportunity is available for a young go-getter CA(SA) with an interest in Investments to function as Executive Assistant to the Chief Financial Officer of a prestigious boutique Wealth Management firm.
Working side-by-side with the CFO, the objective of the role is to provide support with the day-to-day deliverables, as well as investigate and research business issues, strategic initiatives and developments. Initially the role would be project-based, but over time become more of a general financial support.
This position provides the incumbent with invaluable strategic and operational insight into the inner workings of a Wealth business, as well as offer exposure to and experience in a wide variety of investment transactions across asset classes, jurisdictions and markets. The intention is for the incumbent to move into a more investment/wealth orientated role within the business over time.
This role requires a flexible, self-starter with a strong can-do attitude. A high level of integrity, maturity and confidentiality is required. The successful candidate should have very strong communication and presentation skills, as well as excellent numerical and analytical skills.
Key Functions:
• Project management of various financial projects throughout the Group;
• Interacting with the underlying business units on behalf of the CFO;
• Keeping the CFO informed of various activities within and outside the Group;
• Review and assistance in dealing with issues of an operational and technical nature;
• Liaison with auditors, as well as internal and external advisors (including tax, accounting, legal and other advisors);
• Assisting the CFO with various tasks including: Preparing documents, reports and presentation material;
• Supporting the CFO with monthly, quarterly and annual reporting;
• Research on Wealth and Investment developments; and benchmarking against peers and global best practice.
Key Requirements:
• The successful candidate must be a Chartered Accountant, and preference will be given to additional qualifications such as a CFA.
• The candidate should have 1 to 5 years’ post-qualifying experience in the financial services industry and prior experience within a Wealth and/or Investment firm is a distinct advantage.
